LUCYBALU CELEBRATES DESIGN AWARD AND PRODUCT LAUNCH IN PARIS

Together with Karl Lagerfeld's cat Choupette and sieger design, the award-winning Munich start-up presented its new living and interior products at the Maison&Objet.

Paris, 9 September 2022. After LucyBalu received the coveted award from Maison&Objet in Paris, the premium maker of designer cat furniture and accessories announced, at the design fair, a further collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld's cat Choupette. To launch two new special editions, the successful Munich start-up invited guests to an exclusive live event on Friday afternoon with special guest Choupette, accompanied by Françoise Caçote and Lucas Bérullier as well as brothers Michael and Christian Sieger of sieger design.

To discover and support new talent, the Paris design fair Maison&Objet launched the "Future On Stage" platform — a new springboard to support young and remarkable companies in the fields of decoration, design and lifestyle. The expert jury selected a total of three winners, including — alongside two French winners, as the only international winner — the Munich start-up LucyBalu. In the spotlight of the Paris design fair, the two founders of the premium brand, Sebastian Frank and Dr. Mathias Wahrenberger, presented not only their stylish product novelties and exclusive design collaborations, but also offered a very special live event with well-known guests.

"It is a great honour for us to have come out ahead among hundreds of applicants and to now hold in our hands the invitation to exhibit at one of the most important international design fairs. LucyBalu x Choupette

The young start-up for designer cat furniture pulled off a brilliant coup barely a year into being on the market. What began with a gift for the most famous and certainly most extravagant cat in the world led, as early as October 2020, to a rare collaboration and the launch of the first LucyBalu x Choupette special edition. Almost two years later, the glamorous collaboration continues with the goal of jointly designing products that fit every interior taste and the lifestyle of modern cat owners while also respecting the style code of Karl Lagerfeld and his muse Choupette. The result is further design pieces that work perfectly in any home as well as on the go, while also offering great benefits for cats. The brand-new cat-bowl range GARÇON s'il vous plaît as well as the CHECK-IN travel bag from the Cat Travel Collection bear Choupette's signature — stylish, aesthetic, high-quality and animal-friendly.

Exclusive design collaboration with sieger design

A particularly renowned name in the scene was responsible for the creation of the GARÇON s'il vous plaît product range : Michael Sieger, in collaboration with LucyBalu, created the high-quality feeding bar that makes it easy to serve porcelain bowls while standing up, and dedicated a special edition of the same name to Choupette. As a cat lover, the collaboration was a spontaneous labour of love for Michael Sieger. Moreover, LucyBalu and sieger design are united by the topic of living culture, a field that the agency has been shaping with trend-setting designs for many years.

"We deal with interior design and table culture day in, day out — and now also with tableware for cats," says Michael Sieger. "That's why we think it's great that there is a provider who addresses exactly that with high-quality and modern furniture."

The elegant feeding bar for discerning cats not only looks refined in every home, but is also extremely practical: thanks to the tray's carrying handle, the food can be placed flexibly anywhere in the living area without the need for tiresome bending down. The dishwasher-safe porcelain bowls sit securely on the matching mineral-cast tray, which prevents unsightly water spills. While the Basic Collection comes in plain white, the Choupette special edition has been given a luxurious black-and-white decor and porcelain handles in real gold.
