Okay, let's be honest, this article won't be entirely objective.

Because believe it or not: we love cats. 😉

They're fluffy and incredibly cute. For us, that's reason enough.

But we’ve still gathered the best “yes to a cat” arguments for you and present them here:

1. 🛁 Cats are clean! Personal hygiene matters to them just as much as it does to us humans. They spend about three and a half hours a day on grooming. A cat's saliva also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, which can even help a cat's wounds heal faster.
Cats also always take care of their business neatly. Indoor cats usually get used to the litter box very quickly. Outdoor cats often also enjoy what nature has to offer. But: outdoor cats should always have a litter box available at home too.

2. 🐱 It never gets boring! If you get a cat, you can count on having constant entertainment. Watching your furry friend curl up asleep on the couch, acrobatically leap from one piece of furniture to another, or play with their favourite toy is guaranteed to become your new favourite pastime.

3. 💊 Cats are good for your health! Oh yes, these purring companions are real stress busters. While cuddling and petting, our bodies release feel-good hormones. This doesn't just help you relax - it can even lower your blood pressure.

What's more, a cat will keep you pretty active. With a house cat around, you'll rack up extra steps every day - cleaning the litter box, getting rid of cat hair around the flat, playing with your velvet-pawed friend...
As the saying goes: use it or lose it! And that's definitely not going to happen to you with a cat!

On top of that, cats may help protect against allergies. Growing up with a cat from an early age lowers the risk of developing allergies. Contact with cats causes the immune system to produce more antibodies. This only applies, however, if there isn't already a genetic predisposition.

4. 👍They're independent and low-maintenance! Having a pet means being able to take on responsibility. But with cats, you definitely still have plenty of freedom. In fact, cats fit perfectly well with a full-time job.
They don't need constant supervision and are happy to spend time alone. On top of that, they sleep up to 20 hours a day.
If they do want attention, they'll let you know and come find you. As mentioned in point 1, you don't even have to clean your furry friend yourself - they take care of that too.
Whether your cat spends a lot of time alone or not: cats should always be kept in at least pairs. Find out more about that HERE.

5. 🕷 Bye-bye bugs! One little bonus: If you're not a big fan of insects, a cat makes the perfect roommate. Flies, beetles, spiders and co. become prey for your house cat.

They're intelligent, independent, know exactly what they want, reduce our everyday stress and so much more. So from us, it’s a clear “Yes!” to cats. 😉
