We visited the influencer, blogger and cat mum at home. In the interview she tells us — and you — how she lives, what inspires her and what it's like to live with five Maine Coons.
She proves to us every day on her Insta channel (@vena_an) that cats and good interiors are possible — and yes, a lovely sofa can come too, depending on the fabric it has.
We ask, Vena tells. The basics first:
Tell us a little about yourself.
Vena: I'm Vena, still 31 years young. Together with my husband and, currently, our 5 cats, we live in the lovely Bavarian Forest, in my grandparents' house. I'm a village kid through and through and can't imagine ever living in a city. Living with our indoor cats rounds it all off perfectly.
How long have you been living in your place?
Vena: We have been living in my grandparents' house since April 2021, which is being refurbished bit by bit. Never thought I would, but we are so grateful for this opportunity.
An interior blogger in an interview? Of course we want to know more about the home!
How would you describe your interior?
Vena: That's really difficult. I've never actually thought about it. I simply like combining old pieces with history with new details. It's the mix that does it.
Where do you find inspiration?
Vena: I really like browsing on Insta and Pinterest. But I also really enjoy browsing magazines.
Do you have a favourite piece, and if so, why?
Vena: We have quite a few at home. First and foremost our green monster. That's what I affectionately call our tiled stove in the dining room. I associate such wonderful childhood memories with it. But also our old farmhouse cupboard, which I painstakingly restored.
Your absolute favourite room.
Vena: One of my favourite rooms is definitely the bedroom.Mostly because I simply love to sleep. But also our living room, because from the sofa we have the lovely view of our green monster.

Interior and (five!) indoor cats — how can that be reconciled?
How is it with cats and furnishings — have you ever had a moment when you thought oh oh, please don't scratch that?
Vena: Oh yes, they do have a sofa on their conscience. But I'm partly to blame for that myself. I chose a fabric that was attractive to our Sam.
Fynn also loves leaving marks on our farmhouse cupboard when he jumps up from the floor and pulls himself up with his claws. But those are special effects .
Has there ever been a little incident?
Vena: No special incidents so far. At least I don't remember any — or I'm consciously repressing them.
How does life with your velvet paws enrich you?
Vena: Simply through their mere presence.
What's really lovely is that they always see me off when I leave for work and greet me when I come home. Though it might also be that they're grumbling about why I haven't brought anything to eat. Oh, and you are never, really never, alone.

Before our conversation draws to a close, as a cat brand we of course want to learn more about the fluffy housemates:
Tell us a bit about them — what makes each one special?
Vena: Each of them has such a special and wonderful character. With their quirks.
Lucy — 10 years — Maine Coon
She is a little diva and the true lady of the house. When she wants something, she wants to push it through loudly and always have the last word. But she's rather shy when strangers come by. Otherwise incredibly affectionate.
-
Francis — 10 years — Maine Coon
Our little problem child since we got him. He has a completely cuddly nature and starts purring when you just look at him. He is incredibly gentle and loving.
-
Sam — 8 years — Maine Coon
Our fighting cuddle-bug, when he's in the mood. These days he's rather the quiet and unobtrusive one.
-
Fynn — 5 years — Maine Coon
Our daredevil. He has an estimated 5 personalities. We affectionately call him Arschi and my personal shadow. He is incredibly clever, temperamental
-
Ted — 2 years — Maine Coons
Our little water and foot fetishist. He talks pretty much every second (even in his sleep). We affectionately call him Chatterbox and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. He is our klutz, but rather easy-going.
We now know that interior design and cat-mum life can be perfectly combined (we already knew that before, but now you do too).
Vena's coonies love their felt cave, which is not only cosy but also embellishes any interior. You'll find it on our website, along with lots of other products that don't just embellish your indoor cat's life.
