Congratulations! The best decision has been made and a cat is about to move in! But what do you actually need? LucyBalu has put together a checklist for you. It's best to get at least the basic essentials in advance, so your cat can settle in well right from the start.

Cat Essentials for Wellbeing

Bed, lounging spot, an elevated place to sleep. For their wellbeing, cats need a good overview and a sense of security. They sleep up to 20 hours a day, so a sleeping spot is an important place to have. We can highly recommend, for example, our SWING, STRAIGHT or the PLATEAU.

Food, drink, feasting… Cats love to eat. No matter which food you choose to offer, cats love cleanliness! That's why we at LucyBalu recommend materials that are easy to clean and don't absorb odours. For Cleanliness

The little cat's room – one of the most important items on our checklist. Few other animals are as clean, even fastidious, as cats. That's why the litter box should be made from materials that don't absorb odours and are easy to clean. Size matters too! Cats bury their business and need enough space to do so. Also important: even though many brands offer litter boxes with a lid, this often leads cats to reject them, since odours tend to build up inside. And one rule of thumb to finish: always have one more litter box in the house than you have cats!

Cat litter: a philosophy all its own. Whether clumping or non-clumping, organic quality or supermarket brand – all you really need to know is that this litter will end up everywhere in your home. Really – everywhere.

Scratching posts, perches, climbing walls and more – now it gets exciting. Indoor cats especially need plenty of opportunities to climb and romp around – otherwise it becomes frustrating for everyone. Ideally, you'll have everything at home by the time your new cat moves in – but sometimes things happen faster than expected and you have to improvise. No need to panic, cats can handle that too. What matters most is giving your cat a life that's worthy of a cat. With a little forethought, a well-considered setup, and above all plenty of love for your pet, nothing can really go wrong. Cats are wonderful creatures that enrich our lives for a long time to come. We owe them nothing less than the very best. And if that's not always possible, we should at least do everything we can to give our feline friends everything that makes them happy.
