The Catmodel Contest is a German photo and video competition and was launched in 2021 by the cat-furniture manufacturer LucyBalu. Over the course of a contest spanning several weeks, the most photogenic cat is sought. The Catmodel Contest is divided into various phases. In a community vote, users decide which cats make it into the final. The final itself is split in two. While half of the cats do a photo shoot in their own home, some cats come to a live shoot at a photo studio in Munich. The winning cat receives prizes, becomes a LucyBalu testimonial and appears on the cover of "Geliebte Katze“.
In 2022, more than 1,000 cats already applied for the Catmodel Contest. The year after, the competition counted over 5,000 applications.
