The Catmodel Contest is a German photo and video competition that was launched in 2021 by cat furniture manufacturer LucyBalu. Over the course of a contest running for several weeks, the most photogenic cat is sought. The Catmodel Contest is divided into several phases. During a community voting round, users decide which cats make it into the final. The final itself is split into two parts. While half of the cats have their photoshoot at home, some cats travel to a photo studio in Munich for a live shoot. The winning cat receives prizes, becomes a LucyBalu testimonial, and appears on the cover of "Geliebte Katze".
In 2022, more than 1,000 cats had already entered the Catmodel Contest. The following year, the contest received over 5,000 entries.
